My power went out and my automatic standby generator won’t start. Will be very offline to preserve power for emergencies…

Power came back in about three hours. Looks like generator problem is in ignition. Power went back out about 15 minutes ago. This time the generator started. I think I’ll leave it turned on for a while. The UPSs are not satisfied by the power it provides, though. But the furnace runs and we have lights.

Power is back, and most of the ice melted from the trees and the winds are predicted to stay lighter, so I took a chance and turned off the generator. No idea whether it will start again next time I care. Trying to decide whether to pay a pro to come diagnose or take a chance and just buy and install new ignition harnesses (coils and wires; I don’t see a separate condenser) and plugs. One UPS started screaming about a dead battery. Not sure we need a UPS for the TV anyway; it doesn’t really get that much use anyway.

I have a spare UPS if you actually need to watch TV during a blackout. :-)

I have plenty of UPSes. It’s the batteries that die! ☺
