+Richard Hughes — I run MATE rather than GNOME3 (I am not the target audience, it’s been made clear to me) but I’d like to use my colorhug to generate an .icc file for my monitor. All the instructions say just plug it in and it will magically start. Not so under MATE. Not obvious to me how to kick it off manually under MATE. I would hope there’s a program I can invoke, but it’s clearly not any of the programs in colorhug-client since I tried those. Any enlightenment? Thanks!

You can either install gnome-control-center for the easy interface, or dispcalgui for a power ui. Or, use the lived… :-)

Thank you!

Didn’t really want to reboot. dispcalgui isn’t in F20 but “dispcal -c 1 -o whatever.icc” seems to be what I need. Now (since I have an early colorhug) I just need to grab some elastic from the sewing kit nearby to whole the colorhug in place. ☺

+Michael K Johnson Hey, there’s http://hughski.com/buy-hugstrap.html if you want – it’s basically free except the postage. dispcalGUI is available here http://dispcalgui.hoech.net/ – with rpms for basically everything. Have a good calibration :)

Oh, I knew about the hugstrap, but it took all of two minutes to grab a piece of scrap and sew it together.

Now I’m just curious about how to compare the .icc I generated to the .icc I had previously downloaded for my monitor to see how close they are. ☺

You can use gcm-viewer (install gnome-color-manager) to compare profiles.
