Contrast matters
I’m not as freaked out about #whitespace as some; at least with my browser size, the amount of whitespace didn’t actually change much with the redesign, and there are some elements of the redesign that I like.
However, the grey-on-grey comments are really hard to read.

I tried to submit feedback about the grey-on-grey comments but the “Submit” button did not work.
It’s hard to submit feedback about the submit button on the submit feedback tool not working.

grey on grey comments are hard to read, grey on grey icons on the left are hard to discern, and mouseover pop-up menus are annoying. Otherwise, I am not as much peeved as many others. And with my window size, most of the right side crap is invisible, which is good. (But the notification widget is invisible too, and this is not so good.)

+Michael K Johnson BTW the new feedback worked for me. (Except, as always, it snapshoots what is visible in the window when you press the feedback button, not the part of the page that you want to show.)

+Eugene Crosser I was able to scroll the window after selecting feedback from the feedback tool, to highlight a set of comments on grey-on-grey comments in grey-on-grey. It took a window snapshot and I typed in my comment, it just wouldn’t register “submit”.

I could “submit” and it said something like “your feedback is recorded”. Firefox 11 here.

…and this morning I was able to click “submit”. Maybe there was an inconsistency with the #newgoogleplus rollout…
