Tromsø album
On the cruise, our next stop was Tromsø. We walked around the city center, took the cable car up to Fjellstua, visited the “Arctic Cathedral” and Tromsø Cathedral, bought some gifts back in the city center, then walked through Tromsø University (the northernmost university in the world) and down to the Tromsø Botanical Gardens.
Tromsø is full of museums (art, science, and industry) that sound fascinating and that we didn’t get to see. There were concerts at both the “Arctic Cathedral” and Tromsø Cathedral that we would have liked to attend. The impression I got was that I wouldn’t be ready to leave after a week-long visit, let alone this one-day visit. (I might be broke after a week-long visit, given how weak the dollar is relative to the NOK!)

<sarcasm>I blame the socialist policies of the Norwegian government for their strong NOK, excellent education system, outstanding healthcare system, well-maintained infrastructure, general lack of crime, and most of all the health and cheerfulness of every citizen I met when I visited Norway. Why can’t they be more like America? Don’t they understand how democracy and capitalism should work? Sheesh!</sarcasm>
