I first mowed the lawn with a reel mower when I was about five years old. Today my nine year old son and I mowed lawn together with a reel mower. It did a better job than the reviews I read suggested it might.

Is a “reel mower” the same as what people call “push mowers” elsewhere? It looks like it from the photo, but The term is entirely new to me.

Confirmed — I was just at Lee Valley Tools, and they had “reel mower” printed in tiny letters on the price tags for the push mowers. I asked another person before that, though, and she’s never heard the term “reel mower” either.

Yeah, two names for the same thing. Reel mower seems to be the current favorite. Maybe being a less common word makes it a better search term.
